Tonight we had the second 17three at the MET theatre. The purpose is to know God better - from verse John 17:3. It is so awesome to experience the results of the creative minds who plan each service (thanks to Trey, Cameron, Billy, Mark, and anyone else heavily involved!). The qualities of God are portrayed through song, stories, scripture, and videos. Last week, we learned about God's Holiness! This week, we learned about God's forgiveness. We looked at the Prodigal Son scripture and Romans 8:1. It was awesome to again hear how forgiving and loving our God is!
I have been thinking recently about how God is so very loving towards us, but because he is a God of justice we have to do our part! We have to choose to love him and accept Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The choice to follow Christ is one of simplicity (admit you are a sinner, believe Jesus died to take away your sins, and commit your life to being a follower of Jesus)...yet is so difficult for us to do. Often times we feel so unworthy of his love and grace...which is definitely true. We are unworthy, but that is what the definition of grace is. Receiving something you do not deserve. As I realized at a YoungLife weekend in the winter...Through Jesus Christ (who received death that he DIDN'T deserve because he was without sin) we gain salvation and life (which we don't deserve because we are all sinners). Today I read in Psalm 65:3--Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all. How true is this?! ALL is such a key word in that verse, we have to understand that God does not want us to live lives of guilt or to dwell on the times we mess up. We mess up everyday...we are sinners by nature, but through Christ we are transformed. We are given a chance at new life...2 Corinthians 5:17! Accept it...live in the freedom of Christ's sacrifice.
Amazing! We sang a song tonight called Lift High! There is such a cool line that caused me to have goosebumps and tears. Check out the youtube video of the song.
"Broken people call His name, Helpless children praise the King
Nothing brings Him greater fame, When broken people call His name"
God so much wants to be a part of our lives. I hope that you realize how much God's love for you is unconditional and that God has forgiven you for ALL your sins! Let's be thankful and joyful that we are freed from our sins through Jesus!
Goodnight!!
